Gizmodo, the well known information resource from technology world showing a post by “Mark Wilson” with the title “How You Tube 3D came To Be”. Before going through this posting I was also not aware about such advanced feature of you tube as Mark Wilson also said:

You may not have even noticed the YouTube was supporting 3D—frankly, before this interview, I had no idea either.

Mark Wilson had an interview with Pete Bradshaw, the You Tube software engineeralong with spokesman Chris Dale regarding You Tube’s New 3D feature and it’s future impacts. Here are some questions which have been asked to them.

Why did you begin the project?

Pete stated that he had the idea of Youtube 3D a couple of years ago when there was a promotion of “Monsters V/S Aliens”

How long was it between the germ of the idea and actually having something running and actually launching?

Answering the question, Pete told that it was not an easy task to do actually. He told that he spent 3 weeks weeks of actual work and not all of it in continuation because he faced challenges at the player side as he was sound enough at backend server side, which is his profile at You Tube as an engineer. So he spent some time to have the actual idea at player side stuff.

What's the endgame of where you're going with this in terms of this 3D adoption?

Pete told that 3D videos and clippings are more popular from the start where some advanced technology gadgets like Fuji FinePIX Real 3D W1 Camera stereo video technology and CGI animations are being used for 3D exposure . So people have enough inventory to upload online and thus You Tube 3D adoption will be somehow a step ahead in futuristic approach.

The World's Oldest Swiss Army Knife

This could very well be the world's first Swiss Army Knife. Bearing a striking resemblance to modern multi-tools, it has at least six distinct functions and originates from the Roman Empire circa 200 A.D.

If our multi-tools today, with their screwdrivers, pliers, and the rest, center on fixing things, this Roman predecessor is more useful for enjoying the pleasures of food. The tool includes a spike which historians think was used to snag snails out of their shells. A hook-like spatula is thought to have helped coax sauce out of the bottle.

Of course, the device also includes a fork, spoon, and knife for mealtime, as well as a toothpick to clean up your grill afterward. Amazingly, all of these tools appear to fold into the handle to keep everything compact, just like Swiss Army Knives and Leatherman multi-tools we use today.

The tool was found in the Mediterranean area nearly twenty years ago, so technically it's not Swiss at all, and it predates the modern Swiss Army Knife, invented in 1897, by nearly 1,800 years.

The JVC XS-SR3 iPod speaker dock plays audio via a series of tubes

JVC is still at the iPod speaker dock game but at least its latest offering bucks the norm and is actually different. Bonus points for that. The XS-SR3 features tubular speakers that are supposed to help simulate surround sound. The dock also holds the iDevice either vertically or horizontally, just like the B&W Zeppelin Mini I reviewed previously. But unlike that iPod speaker dock, this JVC model is actually affordable with a $149 MSRP.

The “Motorized Knee” makes your runnning 30% more efficient

The researchers at Japan’s Tsukuba University seem to be particularly active when it comes to enhancing human body functions. This is the institution where the famous robot suit HAL-5 was developed and now we have another invention that can help boost the efficiency of our bodies – if that’s what we want and need, that is.

A research team at said university has constructed a “motorized knee”, which is actually a kit that – once it’s attached to a person’s body – supports the flexing of the knee. As a result, the runner may use 30% less of the muscle power that is needed to run unassisted. In experiments, runners could jog at 7.5km per hour wearing the kit, which is about 5kg heavy. So in other words, this isn’t an elegant solution (yet).

Android Market grows up, hits 20,000 apps milestone

Rest assured that 2010 is going to be a big year for the Android operating system, with many new handsets finding their way to stores around the world (including Google’s own phone) and an increasing number of developers building tools, games and the likes for the fast-growing platform.

One way of noticing that the OS is poised for a big breakthrough at the expense of Windows Mobile, Symbian and other operating systems designed to run on various mobile devices, is the number of applications already available for download in the platform’s own application store, Android Market.

While Google doesn’t disclose publicly how many apps are available for installation, AndroLib has been chronicling the publication of all free and paid apps since Android was introduced, so it’s the closest thing to getting a confirmed number at this point.

Lo and behold, that number hit the 20,000 milestone just moments ago, a little over 5 months since it reached 10,000 apps. And as you can tell from the pie graph below, close to 38% of these apps are paid, while 62% of the apps cost as much as the license fee handset manufacturers need to fork over to Google for use of the Android OS.

Hub Pages Launched Real Time Content Feeds - From Techcrunch

HubPages, a content community based around topics, is adding a new real-time feature this week: feeds. The site lets anyone create “Hubs” around any type of topic, and divided content into forums, questions and answers.

The new feed makes it more easy to read all components of a particular hub or topic, where you can comment, ask and answer questions and participate in forums. Hubbers (HubPages authors) can earn money by publishing their Hubs and then collecting ad revenue (which is split with HubPages). Paul Edmondson, founder of HubPages, tells me that several thousand new Hubs are created everyday. Edemondson adds that the new feed hopes to make Hubs a “living, breathing piece of content.”

Chinese Government To Police Social Games.

A string of negative press has hit social games in China, which may signal a propaganda campaign by the government to besmirch social games. Many of the stories are fake, according to industry insiders. Just last month, a doctor’s fatal neglect of an infant in critical condition wasblamed on his play of Happy Farm while on duty, though further investigation concluded that he was on a QQ Chinese Chess Game. Happy Farm is also blamed for destroying jobs and relationships.

The Chinese government does not shy from bold action to fight social ills. New regulations were recently enacted to prevent virtual currency inflation. A survey by the National People’s Congress classified more than 10 percent of China’s youth as “addicted” to the Internet, a serious statement in a nation where boot camps are built to combat Internet dependency.

Foreshadowing the government’s imminent policing of social games, Chinese netizens are now picking—not stealing—crops from their friends’ farms. Five Minutes, the developer of the smash hit Happy Farm (the first SNS farm game), confirmed that the terms had been voluntarily changed in an interview with BloggerInsight. This comes as the government is “considering specific social gaming laws and regulations, to be enacted as early as next year… to end the chaotic market conditions,” according to ChinaNews, which scooped the story on Wednesday last week.

WSJ confirms Apple purchase of Lala

Well that's that, apparently. Although this story has evolved quite a bit over the day, according to Peter Kafka over at All Things Digital, Apple has indeed coughed up the dough for music streaming service Lala. If you believe what you read in the report (and you probably can, Kafka tends to be a straight shooter), Apple's snapping up the company for what will amount to a bargain-basement price... possibly less than $.50 on the dollar.

However, Kafka says at least one source claims his valuation of the deal is off, but we'll have to wait for some official word before we know for sure. If this turns out to all be true, the lingering question is still about Apple's reasoning behind the purchase -- is the company after a particular technology, or is there a service in the offing? Dell facing massive E6400 and E6500 overheating and underclocking problem?

All is not well in the land of the E6400- and E6500-series lappytops. What looks to be hundreds of owners of these machines have been complaining of massive performance issues, throttling themselves down by as much as 95% under what would seem to be normal operating conditions. Whenever the devices get slightly warm the BIOS automatically starts dialing down the performance until they basically crawl to a halt, some indicating that even when cool they won't go over 50% of maximum clock. Users have been reporting this issue since early in the year and Dell has apparently started censoring some posts on its forums, including a link to a PDF created by (now-banned) user Tinkerdude describing the problem in detail. It's entitled "Performance loss during normal operation in a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop due to processor and bus clock throttling", and if you think that's long wait until you see all 59 pages of analysis (at the read link). Apple Rejects iDroid App (Thankfully)

Sure, a Motorola Droid-style glowing red eye sounds cool, but the iDroid app would not have actually replicated any Droid features. In fact, it would have been little more than an ad spewing marketing propaganda once you tapped on it.

The Motorola Droid is a great handset—it doesn't need crapware advertising to sell itself. Apple has a shitty history when it comes to app rejections, but yeah, I'm with them on this one. iDroid's creators, Swavv Apps, should have just stuck to Beer Pong.

Nokia Booklet 3G Will Be a Best Buy Exclusive in the U.S.

With Best Buy confirming exclusive retail rights to the 10-inch netbook with built-in 3G and GPS, are all hopes gone of seeing its estimated $800 price subsidized by a wireless carrier?
Nokia has had trouble getting some phones subsidized by U.S. carriers in the past, so I'm a little concerned here. Because ridiculous price aside, the Booklet 3G has some kick-ass specs: Windows 7, 1280 by 720 (720p) screen, built-in accelerometer, SIM card slot and integrated OVi maps, claimed 16-hour battery life, and HDMI.

Other essentials include 802.11n Wi-Fi, 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, 120GB hard disk and 1GB RAM—there's no Nvidia Ion love.

If you prefer not to deal with the Geek Squad, Nokia will still be selling the Booklet 3G online. But neither company has coughed up any more info on when it will be available (possibly October 22), or how much it will cost. In Europe, it's €575 ($810) before-subsidies. We'll have to wait and see.
